In this issue of our e-newsletter I would like to introduce an exciting learning opportunity that is scheduled to begin this Fall. Through the Genesis Training Center we have developed a series of classes in Bible, doctrine/theology, and church history that we’re calling the “Bible Certification Series.” This is a series of five six-week classes that will be taught at an engaging and challenging level, by a faculty of local experienced church leaders who all have appropriate credentials (masters or doctoral degrees in ministry, Bible and Theology). Those who complete all five courses in the initial series will receive a certification from NWCEA’s Genesis Training Center, and be eligible to enroll in subsequent Level II courses as they become available.
We’ve designed this program to fill what we see as a gap between the regular adult Bible studies and Sunday School classes available in many local churches, and the academic, for-credit classes offered through Christian colleges and seminaries. Many key volunteers and potential staff members in our church plants and constituent churches desire Bible and ministry training at a significant level, but neither desire nor have the time and funds to enroll in a regular degree program. Our Bible certification series will address this need.
The initial core of five classes will be offered during the 2007-2008 school year. Classes include Old Testament Introduction, New Testament Introduction, Biblical Interpretation, Doctrine and Theology, and Church History. Classes are open to any interested persons, and will be conducted in two-hour sessions one evening per week for six weeks. The fee per six-week class is $60.00. Students who complete all five courses for the certification will have 50% of the registration fee refunded upon completion.
