Cliff Berger, BA, M.Div., D.Min. Genesis Program Director Adjunct Professor (multiple local universities and colleges)

Biographical Information: Cliff Berger is the Director of Training and Mentoring for NWCEA, following 21 years as pastor of adult ministries at Tigard Christian Church. He is a graduate of Northwest Christian College, and holds the MDiv and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Emmanuel School of Religion. Cliff also serves on the adjunct faculty for Warner Pacific College, George Fox Evangelical Seminary, University of Phoenix, and Grand Canyon University (online). His interests are in New Testament studies, Christian education and pastoral care, and spiritual formation and disciplines. He has been married for nearly 30 years, and has two teenage children.

Tom Brown, BA, M.Div., D.Min. NWCEA Executive Director

Biographical Information: Executive Director (since 1996) Tom is completing a Doctoral Degree in Ministry from Bakke Graduate University, Seattle, WA; Master's Degree in Divinity from Emmanuel School of Religion; Bachelor's Degree from Puget Sound Christian College. A former church planter in Sacramento, Calif. Tom has served on pastoral staff in Tacoma, Wash.; Johnson City, Tenn.; Powell Butte, Ore.; Sacramento, Calif. Spouse: Sonja Currently serves on the Board of Directors for Puget Sound Christian College. He began as NWCEA Executive Director in April of 1996.

Steve Brook, BA, MA Senior Pastor Our Place Christian Church

Biographical Information: Steve is an outgoing and fun guy who loves God, life & people. Steve has nearly 20 years of experience in youth ministry, preaching, street ministry (founder of a popular Indy nightclub!) and church planting! He graduated from Indiana University with a degree in education, and received his master's degree from Cincinnati Christian University, and has even completed some doctorate work to keep himself out on the front edge! He loves to spend time with his wife, Renee and their three kids, Zechariah, Noah, and Grace!

Derrick Johnson, BS, M.Div., MFT Program Director, Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission Commissioned Officer, US Army (Reserves)
Courses: Leadership, Change Management, Organizational Management.
Biographical Information: Is a graduate of Columbia Christian College, holds a Master of Divinity (as of May, 2007) from George Fox University and is completing his Masters In Marriage and Family Therapy at University of Nevada, Reno. Derrick received his commission as an officer (2nd Lieutenant) in the US Army through Portland State University and is now a Captain preparing for promotion to Major in 2008.
In addition to receiving extensive leadership training from the Army and holding key leadership and command positions in the Army Reserves, Derrick has also held management and executive level positions, including Chief Operating Officer (COO), in a variety of private companies as well as being a proprietor of his own company in the mid 1990’s.
Derrick and his wife Catherine live in Reno, Nevada and he has committed to traveling to Portland once or twice per month to teach at the Genesis Center. Derrick’s biblical interests include Church History, spiritual transformation, Spiritual Direction, biblical history and apologetics.

Ryan Nichols, M.Div. Pastor, North Plains Christian Church

Biographical Information: Ryan is a graduate of Puget Sound Christian College and he also holds the Master of Divinity degree from Emmanuel School of Religion. Ryan has been serving churches in the Northwest and Tennessee for 15 years. His special areas of interest include discipleship, spiritual formation, the history of the Bible, the Old and New Testaments, Church History, and the history of Christian art. Ryan and his wife, Krista, have three children.

Derek Voorhies, BBL, MA, M.Div, D.Min. Pastor, Singing Hills Christian Church

Biographical Information: Derek is a graduate of Ozark Christian College (BBL, 1989), Lincoln Christian College & Seminary (M.A. in New Testament, 1997; M.Div, 1998), and is currently completing a Doctorate of Ministry degree with Dallas Theological Seminary on the Discipleship of Leadership in the local church.
For the past 4 years he has taught online-degree completion courses through Dallas Christian College, primarily Biblical exegesis (The Synoptic Gospels, Paul and His Letters, and Old Testament Survey). He's ministered with churches in Missouri, Illinois, Texas and Oregon. His passions for ministry evolve around Biblical instruction & mentoring of emerging leaders, both nationally and internationally. He thoroughly enjoys maintaining a 5 handicap with golf, but is devoted to preserving his marriage of 16 years and raising his children to be pursuers of Christ.
